Business Plan 2012

The Food Industry Occupational Safety Association, formerly the BC Food Processors Health and Safety Association, was established in 2007 as a not-for-profit organization with a mandate to reduce the high injury rate in the food processing sector. The Association operates on a province-wide basis, representing all segments of the food, beverage and nutraceutical processing industries.

In 2011, FIOSA was given a 2 year contract by WorkSafeBC to provide health and safety association products and services for the manufacturing industry, at which point a review will determine a long-term approach to providing services.

Each year theĀ  Board meets to review its progress towards engaging industry and reducing the injury rate. On September 27, 2011 the Board held a work session to review progress on current initiatives and identify priorities for 2012. This report presents the 2012 business plan priorities, including a review of significant accomplishments in 2011, and the planned activities for 2012.

Approval of the business plan priorities will provide the Chief Executive Officer with the mandate to develop and implement an operations plan and budget for 2012. Progress on activities in the business plan will be reported to the Board and, where appropriate, to WorkSafeBC.
